Obama Pretending to Clean The Water.....

The Obama administration said Wednesday that it had finalized a major clean water regulation that would restore the federal government’s authority to limit pollution in the nation’s rivers, lakes, streams and wetlands.

The rule has attracted fierce opposition from several business interests, including farmers, property developers, fertilizer and pesticide makers, oil and gas producers and a national association of golf course owners. Opponents contend that the rule would stifle economic growth and intrude on property owners’ rights.

Let me explain the issue here. Farmers in the Midwest put tons and tons and tons of fertilizers and chemicals on their crops. You insist that your vegetables need to look near perfect before you purchase them……the only way to achieve such perfection is through lots of chemicals.

So the chemicals go on the fields. The rain washes the chemicals into the streams. The streams empty out into the rivers. The rivers funnel into the Mississippi river. The Mississippi river empties out in the gulf of Mexico.

All the excessive fertilizer makes Algae in the Gulf Of Mexico grow like crazy. That sucks all the oxygen out of the water and you end up with enormous dead zones where nothing can live. Currently the dead zone in the gulf is the size of Connecticut.

Obama wants you to believe he is working to fix this issue. He knows full well the Republicans (who hate the environment and love corporations) will run in and block all efforts. So Obama can claim he tried. Republicans can claim they stopped it. Then everyone is a winner in the eyes of their constituents. It is a beautiful thing.
