More "unexpected" declines

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702304252704575155552218372836.html?mod=WSJ_latestheadlines

This is becoming a trend. You would think eventually they would figure it out. It really isn't complicated.

"The data from payroll processor Automatic Data Processing Inc. and consultancy Macroeconomic Advisers showed a loss of 23,000 jobs in the private sector, in contrast to the forecast of an increase of 50,000 jobs for March."

"an unexpected decline cast doubt on the strong job growth forecast by many economists."

These are trained economists and they get it wrong every month. I am not a trained and I get it right every month. These are the same genius economists who said making everything in China would create more jobs in America. Idiots! All complete idiots.

Guess what is going to happen next month. If you said another unexpected drop you would be correct. And the month after that too.

Oil Price Manipulation

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/36107405/ns/business-oil_and_energy/

This has been going on for 10 years. It is still happening. Bush did nothing about it and Obama is also doing nothing about it. Shocking I know.

Demand down 13%. Prices up 50%. That is not how a free market is suppose to work. Regulations are in order (and years overdue).
Will it happen? Of course not!

"Wall Street has been urging investors to snap up oil for several reasons. The huge flood of money into the financial system since the September 2008"

That huge flood of money is taxpayer bailout money which is being used to screw the taxpayer on oil prices. Could that be anymore wrong........

Offshore Drilling

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/31/science/earth/31energy.html

George W Bush is going to allow offshore drilling....ooops I mean Barak Obama is going to allow offshore drilling. I get so confused because they are both exactly the same. The only difference is Bush (and his oil buddy's) only talked about offshore drilling where Obama is actually going to make it a reality. Yes Obama is a doer. He is the most highly motivated Republican I have ever seen. Nobody moves the right wing agenda along faster then Obama.

Bush talked about Nuclear Power but Obama is making it happen.
Bush talked about expanding clean coal but Obama is making it happen.
Bush talked about offshore drilling but Obama is making it happen.

Big oil had a true friend in George W but Obama is committed to proving he is just as Republican as the last guy. Who needs offshore windmills (made in China) when you can have pretty oil rigs. Who wouldn't want to look off the coast and see those dotting the horizon. And environmental safety....Is that really as important as the chance to pocket even more oil revenue. Isn't it better to not have to share it with Saudi Arabi, Kuwait, Iraq, or Russia. Think of the savings not having to transport the product half way around the world.

Yes offshore drilling is a windfall for the industry and no industry deserves more of a windfall then Big Oil. You think it has been easy counting all those Billions and Billions over the last 10 years. I think not. Yes Obama will take care of Exxon and Exxon will be sure to take care of Obama come reelection time. Enjoy the new beach front view. It should be spectacular. Try not to get oil on your feet as you stroll the beaches.

GOP living high and wide

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2010/03/30/MN3M1CMTME.DTL&type=politics

The GOP is all about fiscal conservatism and protecting "family values" except when it comes to them. When it is them it is OK to spend

"$2,000 for "meals" at Voyeur West Hollywood, a nightclub featuring topless dancers simulating lesbian sex."

The GOP loves to fight gay rights except when lesbian sex is involved. Then they are very supportive.
"The committee had more than $22 million on hand when Steele arrived last year, but is down to under $10 million now despite raising $96 million during that time, records show."

Sounds fiscally conservative to me.

China working to take out US Carriers

http://www.wired.com/dangerroom/2010/03/china-testing-ballistic-missile-carrier-killer/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+wired%2Findex+%28Wired%3A+Index+3+%28Top+Stories+2%29%29

The #1 weapon in the US arsenal in the Air Craft Carrier. No other country can take air power and project in anywhere on the planet like the US can. Without the carriers the US military is defanged. We only have 10 of them (in active service) and they take many years to build.

The Chinese know if they can take out our carriers that is a game changer. They can't invade Twain until they can neutralize our carrier groups. They are working hard at it. Meanwhile the US is asleep at the switch. Nobody paying the slightest bit of attention to the looming dangers.

Two years ago China took out an orbiting satellite. They know in a conflict we need our satellites. Without them we are lost and blind. They are working on their cyber attacks too. It is all coming together nicely for them.

Meanwhile our narrow minded leaders are only concentrating on Iraq and Afghanistan. They are completely missing the big picture. To them the only kind of threat is the kind we now face. They couldn't be more wrong.

They retired the SR-71 which will be needed if we have no satellites. They retired the F-117 Stealth Fighter which will be needed to go in and take out enemy radar. We don't have those needs in Afghanistan so it is concluded the US will never need that ability again. They ended the F-22 program which was the program used to justify the retirement of the F-117. It has been one bad decision after another.

So it is all coming together nicely for the Communist Chinese. They have a monetary noose around our neck. Just in case that doesn't work they are well positioned to take us out militarily too . Whenever it happens the US will sit around scratching heads wondering if any warning signs were missed. Let me help answer that question. Yes! They were.

BP

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/03/26/AR2010032604611.html

BP closing a solar panel factory in Maryland and moving it to India and China. 320 workers losing their jobs. Then to rub salt in the wound BP is asking US taxpayers to finance their solar ventures.

"BP has applied to the Energy Department to help finance a proposed 32 megawatt solar-power generation plant on Long Island, N.Y., on land belonging to the Energy Department's Brookhaven National Laboratory."

At $2.83 a gallon BP is somehow poor.

This is why when President Obama says the future economy is in Green Technologies he is full of sh*t. Green Technologies, Blue technologies whatever......They are all going to be done in Communist Red China.

On Thursday New United Motor Manufacturing Inc is closing. 4,700 workers will be out of work. There are another 20,000 workers at supply plants who are scrambling to stay in business. California could lose 1 Billion dollars in tax revenue if these suppliers can't find another way to make a buck.

This is what happened in Michigan when GM moved plants to Mexico. History repeats itself.

Another Mortgage Bailout

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/03/26/AR2010032602031.html

This isn't solving anything. It is only kicking the can down the road. The problem remains jobs. Nobody is fixing the problem. So the government pays the banks to change the loans. So what? The borrower still doesn't have a job so the problem isn't going away.

The original idea of TARP was to take the troubled assets from the banks (freeing the banks to lend again). In the end Henry Paulson just gave money to the banks and let them keep the assets too. A win win for the banks. But then everyone got mad and the government said the money needed to be paid back. The banks didn't care about paying it back until the government said executive pay will be curtailed to any bank which took TARP money. That caused the banks to pay all the money back in about 4 seconds. Suddenly all the banks were fine again. Anything to keep their cushy paychecks.

But here we are back where we started. The banks are losing their shirts on foreclosures oh no......... So Obama will pretend that he is helping the people when really he is helping the banks. This is all about the banks. The banks will modify the loans but the government is handing them the money to do it. So the sacrifice to the banks is minimal.

Again nothing happens unless the government forces it. This is just another corporate giveaway dressed up to please the angry voters in an election year. In the end it will fail (like all the other dim witted programs have failed) because there are no jobs........

Social Security

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/25/business/economy/25social.html?hp

This year Social Security will pay out more money in benefits then it takes in through taxes.. The "experts" said this wasn't suppose to happen until 2016. The experts were wrong - again! They didn't count on all those unemployed people sitting home watching Ellen instead of earning a living a paying Social Security taxes. That little piece of the equation is constantly overlooked. They never consider that those Chinese workers making American products aren't paying into the system. The money goes to china. The taxes never get collected. Everyone loses.

As long as these stories continue http://www.miamiherald.com/2010/03/26/1548796/floridas-unemployment-rate-hits.html then the experts better reevaluate the situation.

Pan Am 103

August 2009 http://www.thestar.com/news/world/article/685595

In August 2009 the Lockerbie Pan Am Bomber was released from prison because he had 3 months to live. He was released on "Compassionate Grounds". Even though when he blew 270 innocent people out of the sky in December 1988 he showed no compassion at all.

The release outraged the world who accused Britain of releasing him so they can obtain a lucrative oil deal with Libya.

India is Salivating..

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/03/25/AR2010032501385.html?hpid=topnews

Well maybe Healthcare will mean more jobs. After all we have lots of insurance companies. Maybe that will be a silver lining in all this madness.

Nope!

India is "salivating" over it's prospects.

Health Care Lies

http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5jYnajhWrPEXihcCrpRNfUKN7rN-AD9EKTKIG0

Obama made better coverage for children a centerpiece of his health care remake, but it turns out the letter of the law provided a less-than-complete guarantee that kids with health problems would not be shut out of coverage.

Under the new law, insurance companies still would be able to refuse new coverage to children because of a pre-existing medical problem, said Karen Lightfoot, spokeswoman for the House Energy and Commerce Committee

Full protection for children would not come until 2014, said Kate Cyrul.

President Obama said - Starting this year, insurance companies will be banned forever from denying coverage to children with pre-existing conditions."

Now we know that was a lie.

So lets get this straight. The Congress passes a bill that is 2300 pages long. The entire bill is based on the premise that no one can be denied coverage. So the day after it is signed it is revealed that kids can actually still be denied. Are they fricken kidding with this sh*t.......

HFCS

http://www.princeton.edu/main/news/archive/S26/91/22K07/

"When rats are drinking high-fructose corn syrup at levels well below those in soda pop, they're becoming obese -- every single one, across the board."

"These rats aren't just getting fat; they're demonstrating characteristics of obesity, including substantial increases in abdominal fat and circulating triglycerides," said Princeton graduate student Miriam Bocarsly.

"In the 40 years since the introduction of high-fructose corn syrup as a cost-effective sweetener in the American diet, rates of obesity in the U.S. have skyrocketed, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In 1970, around 15 percent of the U.S. population met the definition for obesity; today, roughly one-third of the American adults are considered obese, the CDC reported"

"Our findings lend support to the theory that the excessive consumption of high-fructose corn syrup found in many beverages may be an important factor in the obesity epidemic," (Just like I said in my Feb 9th posting)

More clinical proof the stuff is toxic. http://www.bizjournals.com/denver/stories/2010/03/15/daily58.html

First Lady Obama can dance around the country discussing Obesity till the cows come home. Unless they ban this sludge she is wasting her time. The answer to this problem is clear. Get rid of HFCS. Problem solved....

CIGNA

Cigna pretending not to like the Health Care bill. (chuckle, chuckle).

http://www.philly.com/philly/business/homepage/20100323_PhillyDeals__Cigna_CEO__Health-care_bill_unsustainable.html

It called some of the bill's reforms "overdue, such as eliminating preexisting conditions from coverage decisions, providing full coverage for preventive services, and opening up access to many who are not currently insured."

"Of course, insurers didn't take those "overdue" steps without government action."

Cigna is still concerned about runaways healthcare costs though. Cost which they help to runaway with. Too bad they are not as concerned about the costs for their Ex CEO.

http://online.wsj.com/article/BT-CO-20100319-712948.html?mod=WSJ_latestheadlines

"Illegal" Immigration

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/france/7472581/Illegal-immigrant-walked-16-miles-into-Channel-Tunnel.html

If you are caught in France illegally you go to jail immediately.
"Police took him back to France where he was almost immediately sentenced to two years in prison and told that he would be deported on being released."

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/22/us/politics/22immig.html?ref=us
BUT If you are in the USA illegally you get to go to Washington DC and demand your rights. I guess if there are enough people who break the law then it is OK. Illegal Immigration becomes Immigration if the numbers are high enough.

Protectionism alive and well in China

The USA can't have protectionism. No, no, no that wouldn't be right. Free trade....It is all about open markets.

Tell that to the Communist Chinese. They didn't get the memo.

http://abcnews.go.com/Business/wireStory?id=10167081

China threatening USA over trade

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35980548/ns/business-washington_post/
America has NOTHING to lose in a trade war with China. Bring it on..... The only thing we have to lose is unemployment.

Corporate America on the other hand has lots to lose which is why this is all just bluster. Corporate America runs Washington and they want the status quo.

But it is an election year and Congress is scared sh*tless of the 20 million unemployed so they will put on a good show. There will be anger. There will be yelling. There will be threats. Washington will pretend they are going to finally fix the problem. But when it is over nothing will have changed. It is all just a show. Just like the healthcare debate. Everyone pretended like maybe it won't pass but everyone knew it would be signed sealed and delivered. The real Hollywood is in Washington DC. All the great actors reside there.

I would be so happy if I walked into Walmart and it was empty shelves in all directions. That would be fantastic. All those short sided companies who ran to China would be forced to bring the work back. Help wanted signs everywhere you look. What a great problem that would be. Dreaming is fun but it isn't reality. The reality is Made in China is here to stay and the downward spiral of our country is too. Everyone should get used to it.

China wants our high technology so they can use it against us when they threaten Taiwan or Tibet. Obama is an idiot if he lifts the ban. Not like they don't get the technology anyway by hacking us.. They want us to hand it to them on a silver platter though. Won't surprise me if Obama gives it to them too. Obama is just that stupid.

High Tech US research going to China

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/18/business/global/18research.html?pagewanted=1&adxnnlx=1268928501-2Dhb44o%207Hi6qMF1TZJNuA

"47 universities and other institutions of higher learning, churning out engineers with master’s degrees who can be hired for $730 a month."

" President Obama has often spoken about creating clean-energy jobs in the United States. But China has shown the political will to do so"

"Applied Materials has built a 360-employee operation here in Xi’an after announcing an 18-month program last year to reduce employment by 10 to 12 percent, or 1,300 to 1,500 jobs, including layoffs in the United States and Europe"

“Of course, China will lead everything.”

So when you see the news which says the recovery is coming soon you will know that it is not. A recovery is not coming. It is not coming today. Not coming tomorrow. Not coming in the next 25 years. Not as long as these stories keep appearing.

They used to say it was just going to be manufacturing. The high tech research was always still done in the USA. This is a new turning point in the dismantling of our economy (and way of life). It is not just this or that piece of the economy. It is everything.

Kucinich

http://abcnews.go.com/WN/HealthCare/health-care-dennis-kucinich-switches-vote-health-care/story?id=10123393

Last week -

"Kucinich called the current bill a "giveaway" to insurance companies and not "a bill for the American people.

"They know my position, and unless there's some dramatic change in the content of the bill, I think they can predict how I'm going to vote," Kucinich said

This week -

Kucinich was invited by President Obama to travel with him to Ohio Monday on Air Force One. The liberal Democrat today said he had four separate meetings with the president to discuss the bill. Obama didn't commit to a public option in the future but promised to work with him on his "broad concerns."

So once the President started kissing his azz suddenly Kucinich is now a supporter. Amazing what a VIP flight on Air Force One will do for ones viewpoint. That is some plane.
Members of Congress always stand on principle until they can sell out at the drop of a hat. That must be why they have a 17% approval rating with the American people.

More of the same from Obama

http://www.cnn.com/2010/POLITICS/03/11/obama.export.initiative/

Free Trade has led American to the worst economic conditions since the Great Depression. So what is Obamas grand plan ......even more Free Trade.... Yay lets keep doing what got us to this horrible position.

When you are speeding towards a brick wall Obamas solution is to step harder on the gas. Yeah that will work.

"new trade agreements would be a tough sell among Americans stung by the recession. The president will also have to overcome opposition from labor unions (who's members will soon be unemployed) and some Democrats in Congress (who are all up for reelection and will be run out of town by an angry mob of unemployed voters)."

I wasn't sure at first by everyday I am more and more convinced Obama is an idiot. Just like his predecessor was an idiot. Just like the guy before his predecessor was an idiot. Just like the guy before that was an idiot too. The more the names change the more everything is exactly the same.

Obama and Student Loans

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB20001424052748704187204575101663745849200.html

"Both the House-passed bill and the President's budget increase Pell Grants and also create automatic future increases, so individual grants will grow faster than inflation every year. Colleges will pocket the money by raising tuition, so we have yet another federal program ensuring that higher education costs continue to rise even faster than health-care spending."

I don't get it. The entire point of the getting rid of the private lenders was to control the runaway costs. Now the private lenders will go away but prices will continue to rocket out of control. So this is just a giveaway to the colleges. Before it was a giveaway to the colleges and the private lenders. Now they just cut out the middle man but didn't fix the overriding problem of runaway costs.

Al Gores Hypocrisy

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/28/opinion/28gore.html?pagewanted=1

"The globalization of the economy, coupled with the outsourcing of jobs from industrial countries, has simultaneously heightened fears of further job losses in the industrial world and encouraged rising expectations in emerging economies. The result? Heightened opposition, in both the industrial and developing worlds, to any constraints on the use of carbon-based fuels, which remain our principal source of energy."

Another wards the loss of jobs to developing countries is to blame for everyone's unwillingness to fix Global Warming. AND WHO is the champion of American jobs going to the 3rd world? AL GORE himself......Mr. Pro NAFTA. AL Gore is the single biggest reason NAFTA passed with his 1993 debate with Ross Perot. Then you have the Clinton Administration granting Most favored nation status for Communist Red China. This in turn opened the flood gates to jobs going to China.

"It also led, in the United States, to a hubristic “bubble” of market fundamentalism that encouraged opponents of regulatory constraints to mount an aggressive effort to shift the internal boundary between the democracy sphere and the market sphere. Over time, markets would most efficiently solve most problems, they argued. Laws and regulations interfering with the operations of the market carried a faint odor of the discredited statistic adversary we had just defeated. "

Translation deregulation has helped fuel the problems (What I say everyday).

Unfortunately for Al Gore to say this is hypocritical because it was his administration that deregulated everything. Cable, Energy, Banking were all deregulated by Bill Clinton (masquerading as a Republican). So for Mr. Gore (who did nothing as Vice President for 8 years to fight global warming. And who did nothing for 16 years he was in Congress )to now stand up as the man with the answers is laughable.

The reason Al Gore talks about global warming is because he gets rich doing it. When he was in power and could actually make change he did NOTHING!

He should look in the mirror and point the finger straight at himself.

College Professors rise up.....

http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/03/04/us.day.of.action/index.html?hpt=T1

Reagan was right trickle down economics does work. People lose jobs. Tax revenue dries up. Education gets chopped. College professors get mad and protest.

These are the same college professors who stand at the front of their economics class and exclaim that virtues of outsourcing. Outsourcing is good for the economy (they say) as all their clueless student scribble notes in their notebooks. Now the chickens have come home to roost and suddenly these same professors are upset when it cuts into their paychecks. When it is blue collar workers that can be taught away as progress. When it is Textile workers that is not a problem for the broader economy (so they say). BUT when it is college professors...oh man suddenly it is time to rise up against the tyranny.

These protests are about 25 years too late. The snowball is racing down the hill picking up speed and no college protest is going to matter now. I will enjoy watching the show anyway. The outrage amuses me.

The students who can't afford to take on 40 years of debt acquiring a 4 year degree should take solace in the knowledge that (even if they could afford it) there are no jobs anyway. They should save their money.

Food poisoning

http://www.businessweek.com/lifestyle/content/healthday/636595.html

It took until the final paragraph for them to get to the real point of the article.

"The report noted that food-borne illnesses are becoming more common in the United States for several reasons, including an increasingly complex and global food system"

Another ward we have no control over the filthy contaminated food sent from China (and every other 3rd world country) with no safety standards. But since it is so cheap (because there are no standards) it is flooding into our country at an alarming rate.

Time for new laws and stricter enforcement. Better yet they should ban all the imports. Or at least put country of origin labeling so we know where the filth (we are being asked to ingest) comes from.
